1pt each-way Aurore D'estruval @8/1, Ascot 13:50

This is a big test for the prolific Vroum Vroum Mag, who has won all seven of her Irish starts and has so far been kept against her own sex.

She’s another in the familiar Rich Ricci silks from the Mullins yard, and Ruby has made the trip to Ascot, too.

Prolific she is, but she’s never beaten much and her odds-on price might be worth taking on today, particularly as she’s trying the best part of three miles for the first time.

I do think she’ll win, but I can make more money in placing the classy Aurore D’estruval at 8/1 each-way than I would landing the jolly, and she’s no no-hoper in the win market either.

She travelled very well for much of the race when beaten into fourth by a huge performance from Camping Ground in the Relkeel Hurdle at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day, where the World Hurdle winner Cole Harden was nine lengths in front and the well-backed Triumph and Fighting Fifth hurdle second Top Notch a nose back in fifth.

Lest we forget she’d been off the track for a year and is entitled to improve loads for the run – which was already a smart level of form.

The ground shouldn’t hinder her and she has age (6) on her side, but, above all, 8/1 just looks like a really nice price to go to war with.
