6f John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo+)
Not much separates this group of sprinters with any number holding strong claims. But at the weights it might just be ANNAF that shades it here. Already proven at Group 1 level having finished third in the King Stand Stakes over this track, Annaf put in a strong display to pick up the Portland Handicap a few weeks ago beating the Ayr Gold Cup winner, Significantly.
Annaf went down to Commanche Falls earlier in the season but get 3lbs from his in-form rival this time whilst he also gets the same amount from Juan Les Pins who get the better of him on soft ground at Newmarket a few starts back. Annaf was unlucky in the Group 1 Sprint Cup behind Regional when not getting a clear run. But if Annaf can settle well today then this son of Muhaarar has a great chance of claiming his first Group race success.
The improving Dark Trooper may be the pick of the rest and can continue his progress here to go close against more experienced sprinters.
