1m4f Pravha Stakes (Registered As The St Simon Stakes) (Group 3) (Class 1)
Raymond Tusk looks a bit of a soft favourite at 7/2 in the Group 3 middle-distance contest over at Newbury. He needs to bounce back to form off a very long break and I don’t see it in what looks an open contest.
There are a few interesting contenders in this, but I like the profile of AWAY HE GOES. This four-year-old son of Faarh looked extremely impressive on his last start at Doncaster over 1m 4f on good ground.
Away He Goes easily dispatched of a solid looking group of opponents in a Class 2 handicap. Prior to this he put in another career best during his only start in pattern company, finishing fifth behind Arc winner Sottsass and Champions Stakes second Skaletti on soft ground at Deavuille.
Away He Goes has mainly raced on good or good-firm ground with a victory at this track earlier in his novice career. But his sire, Faarh handled cut in the ground and 1m 4f also looks to be his trip with a 66% strike rate vs. 20% over 1m 2f in 8 career starts.
So, I’m prepared to take another chance on bottomless ground for a colt that looks much improved.
1pt win Away He Goes @15/2, 16:10 Newbury, Saturday
