1m (Str) Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes (Group 1) (Class 1) (2yo)
We put up Wembley for the Dewhurst and run that race again ten times and he probably wins half of them, but so long as he’s a hold-up horse he’ll never be a prolific winner in Group One company. He looks the right price here – so no value – and there are a couple with very strong claims. I like One Ruler a lot and thought he showed improved form last time on soft ground up in trip, and I’d say 7/2 is a shade of value. The bet for me with four places offered each-way is BARADAR at 25/1. He’s got decent form and bolted up last time but obviously has a lot of improving to do off a mark of 91. They’re aiming him here which might be telling, and soft ground is a plus so he has a chance. His half-brother Roseman was second in a Group One on bad ground last week but the doubt is his staying power, being a son on Muhaarar.
1pt each-way Baradar @25/1, 14:55 Doncaster, Saturday (1-4, 1/5 SkyBet)
