1pt win Campanelle @7/1, 1pt win Sands Of Time @25/1, 13:15 Ascot, Saturday

With the Coolmore horse propping the market up at 6/4, you’re getting some massive prices on the rest of the Queen Mary field so it’s ripe for a bet. The favourite is by War Front and that’s always a red flag to me on softer ground, for all there are plenty of exceptions to that rule. I really like the look of SANDS OF TIME for last year’s winning yard. She looked really fast on debut and is by American star sprinter Bobby’s Kitten, new to the sire ranks. I love betting on unexposed sprint sires in these two-year-old races as they’re always big prices. She’s drawn middle which is perfect and had a bit of knee bend in her action so looks like she might handle cut, and 25/1 is very easy to back. Rather than play each-way I’m backing two and keeping the faith in Wesley Ward getting his winner. His CAMPANELLE looked lightning fast on debut and has had an ideal prep with that run being in America with a good break between then and now – something the domestic challenge couldn’t do as racing was on hold. She’s by Kodiac so softer going shouldn’t be a hinderance and Frankie is on board. Draw one isn’t good but I’m done trying to second guess any draw bias this week.
