Old favourite CH’TIBELLO looks very backable at 7/4 to beat an even older favourite in The New One in today’s Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock.
The New One has been prolific throughout his career in winning British Grade 2 races and has been in fine form this season despite rising ten years of age this month.
However, the younger legs of Dan Skelton’s Ch’tibello are proven on the horrible ground that’s likely to be at Haydock today and, receiving 6lb from the favourite, he should be able to reverse the form of his seasonal reappearance where he was a couple of lengths behind The New One.
The New One had had a run already that time, so I’d expect match fitness to come into play to help reverse the form.
On value grounds it’s a very uncomplicated bet with nothing else in this four-runner race anywhere near those two on form.
1pt win Ch’tibello @7/4, 14:40 Haydock, Saturday
