2m3½f Matchbook Betting Exchange Faugheen Novice Chase (Grade 1)
Asterion Forlonge is currently a short-priced favourite for the Grade 1 Faugheen Novice Chase on Boxing Day at Limerick.
A Grade 1 winning hurdler, Asterion Forlonge looked good on debut but still carries a nagging risk with his jumping and he wasn’t foot perfect on his first start either. A right-handed track should suit him but preference is for the other Willie Mullins runner, COLREEVY.
This mare was fifth in the Mares Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival and has a couple of Grade 1 bumper wins to her name including a Punchestown triumph over Abacadabras.
Colreevy may not have quite hit the heights over hurdles. But she looked a natural chaser on her first start, bolting up by 15 lengths. Her chance is further boosted having won over course and distance at this meeting last year, while she also gets a seven pounds allowance from the boys in her ideal going conditions.
