2m5f (Winter) Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle (GBB Race) (Class 2) (4yo+)
I can’t escape the claims of IMPOSE TOI here even though he’s been well found in the market. His Ascot run was superb over a trip more than 5f shorter than this, yet he’s proven he stays this longer trip well in the past. A 4lb rise for narrowly losing out in one of the classiest 2m handicaps is nominal if the longer trip is what he really wants, and he could have a good amount in hand at this distance. Sonigino and Langer Dan ensure he gets a 9lb pull from the top weights and we know good-to-soft going is no issue for him. He’s the perfect age, in top form, with the right connections and I really couldn’t find anything to get remotely excited about lower down in the betting. Nemean Lion is second pick and the market agrees, but I don’t think he will run if the course keeps drying out, and he’s got to give 6lb to the selection.
