The unexposed KIMBERLITE CANDY looks the bet at 8/1 in the 15:25 Grade 2 Hurdle on Cheltenham’s Saturday card.
Purchased by J P McManus after an impressive victory under Richard Johnson at Ascot, he then breezed home when odds-on at Newcastle and arrives at Cheltenham with any amount of improvement possible and now partnered with McManus’s retained rider Barry Geraghty.
He’s been warmly backed too, so all the signs are there he could make a mockery of his 8/1 quote in a potentially massive day for Geraghty and his boss.
Kimberlite Candy is a sound jumper and looks to be headed for the staying ranks, so, as he’s not the quickest, the stiff test of Cheltenham’s hill should suit and any of the forecast rain is likely to play to his strengths.
Wholestone’s proven course form ranks a threat at a nice price of 6/1, and Coo Star Sivola has similar claims at what might be a generous 12/1 in a wide-open renewal.
