1pt win Kinross @15/2, 14:50 Deauville, Sunday

6½f (6f110y) Larc Prix Maurice de Gheest (Group 1) (3yo+) (Straight Course) (Turf) (3yo+)

Most lining up here don’t mind a bit of cut in the ground and it shouldn’t be much worse than good-to-soft. July Cup winner Starman probably prefers it faster but is a deserving favourite as he’s a sprinter on the up, but he’s priced fairly conservatively and that little doubt about the ground is enough reason to take him on. Campanelle won the Commonwealth Cup in the stewards room and bookmakers aren’t giving anything away with her price either. She gets an extra 1lb pull with the 3yo colts here which could be decisive. I think the 4yo KINROSS is the one to be on here at 15/2 as he’s an improved model this season after being gelded. His Goodwood win, beating Space Blues and Creative Force, is top form that ties in with the favourites nicely and the sectionals confirm it was a turn of foot that proved decisive to ease any concerns over this slight drop in trip. He loves slower ground and this being his third run of the season should see him cherry ripe.
