2m 3f Howden Handicap Chase (Class 2)
There might not be too many better-handicapped horses in the Howden Handicap Chase as KNIGHT IN DUBAI for the Skeltons. Best rated off a mark of 140 over hurdles, he managed to collect a mark of 143 over fences during his novice campaign which included two highly impressive wins before a valiant second to strong stayer Sam Brown in a heavy ground Grade 2 at Haydock.
Knight In Dubai never got a chance to put in a run when getting hampered before falling at Cheltenham Festival in the Novice Handicap Chase won by Imperial Aura in 2020 and he has now dropped to a mark of 136.
Off 606 days, he travelled with promise on his reappearance at Aintree over an inadequate two-mile trip, finishing fifth last month. The form of that race looks pretty solid and Knight In Dubai can be expected to improve significantly for that run with a 2lbs drop in his mark and an extra three furlongs on softer going in his favour.
1pt win Knight In Dubai @5/1, 13:50 Ascot, Saturday
