MONDIALISTE is the clear class horse in Saturday’s Group Three opener at York, having landed Group One races and generally performed above this level in the past.
He’d been somewhat out of sorts of late before a return to form last time out in Group Two company behind Success Days at York, his local track, where it took a photo to place him second.
He likes York and the cut in the ground is no problem, while with his lack of a recent win means he escapes a penalty at this level and he gets a 5lb pull in the weights from arguably his closest rival on form, Sovereign Debt.
The favourite, Mustashry, is graduating from handicaps and is unproven at this level – a positive only when attached with bigger prices – so I’m sticking with the proven form lines and the 3/1 about Mondialiste looks good.
1pt win Mondialiste @3/1, 13:55 York, Saturday
