1pt win Muthmir @11/4, 15:10 Beverley, Saturday

MUTHMIR is the clear class horse in this year’s Beverley Bullet, a five-furlong Listed sprint.

Second in last year’s Group One King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot and winner of the Group Two King George Stakes at last year’s Glorious Goodwood, anything like that should be plenty good enough to land this.

He’s not really found that form this season, losing his King George title by two lengths to Take Cover, but dodgy ground has followed him around since winning that race last year and rain might have derailed his chances again here.

It’s good, good-to-soft in places at the time of the writing with a dry forecast – and that doesn’t play to his strengths.

It should be more like good ground by the time they’re off and, significant though it is, the ground isn’t enough to put me off.

Next on official ratings is Mr Lupton for Richard Fahey, but he looks on a false mark and his two recent starts only support that theory.

Muthmir’s best (116 achieved last season) would have him 8lb clear of the remainder so at 11/4 he looks a pretty good price to try and rediscover it.
