1m Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas (Group 1) (No Geldings) (3yo)
The English Guineas form is well represented by the 2nd and 3rd placed Hi Royal and Royal Scotsman, but I’d have a slight stamina doubt about both of them over this stiff mile test. I’m firmly with Aidan O’Brien’s PADDINGTON here at 4/1. He’s won three on the bounce on softer ground since disappointing at Ascot on his racecourse debut, and though that sole defeat came on a sound surface, I think this horse moves like a horse that will appreciate better ground. He’s a proven winner over this course and distance and arrives here hard fit after two wins already this season. Ryan Moore rides and I’d have no concerns over him seeing out this trip – if one ends up too fast for him then so be it.
