6f Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (No Geldings) (Class 1) (3yo)
A weakened field leaves the speedy Inisherin as favourite, and rightly so I think as he’s come closest to breaking the 11 second furlong barrier out of the market principles. However the fact is the horse that’s done it multiple times is PANDORA’S GIFT who has won four in a row on artificial surfaces taking her career record to 21-111. She has a sprinting turf pedigree and should have no issues with her first start on the grass – though the undulations and straight track pose new challenges. I just think if you boil it down to the basics of what you want from a sprinter, speed is top of the list and her weight allowance will only make her faster. If she is the fastest horse in the race, at 14/1 I think you’re getting a great price in a wide open betting heat.
