2m3½f (2m3f58y) Ascot Shop Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) (Class 2) (5yo+)
Inthewaterside has looked a pretty solid novice hurdler so far this season and has already claimed a few wins, but the form of his successes doesn’t really look that solid with both close seconds getting beaten next time out. He also has concede a fair bit of weight to his rivals here and I think he looks very short in a race where several have potential to improve.
The one that makes the most appeal is PHANTOMOFTHEPOINTS who put in a fairly taking opening run in a maiden hurdle at Ayr when just going down by a nose to Florida Dreams who ran in the Tolworth. That form looks very solid as the 2nd, 5th, and 6th have all come out and won.
Phantomofthepoints finished third in a decent-looking bumper in Ireland before also going close in a bumper at Ffos Llas in November. He steps up in trip and could give the favourite a bit of a shock.
