1pt win Priceless @8/1, 14:20 Newmarket, Saturday

Earlier on the Guineas card the five-furlong sprinters are out in force in a top-class race that would be befitting of a Group One.

Marsha carries a Group One penalty for her win at Longchamp and will be aimed for bigger and better things than this so is easy enough to oppose, whilst recent Navan winner Washington DC is difficult to win with despite solid Group One form.

Goldream is a massive price but hasn’t shown much since his brilliant 2015 season and doesn’t go particularly well fresh, whilst the classy Muthmir has had a run and arrives off the back of a win at Bath and should go close.

It wasn’t as visually impressive as the filly PRICELESS‘s recent win at the same track, though, and I reckon Silvestre de Sousa’s mount is the value in this race at 8/1 receiving weight from most of the field.

Sprinting ace Clive Cox trains the colt, who has spent all her career racing at six furlongs before being dropped back to five on her last two starts, which she’s won handsomely.

Firm ground is no negative and a couple of placed efforts in handicaps suggest she’ll handle Newmarket too; one of those efforts was in defeat to Stewards Cup winner Dancing Star, who also goes here but without the benefit of a prep run.

I’d fancy a reverse in form over this shorter trip.
