With only six runners and the yard in top form, SOUTHFIELD STONE looks a very puntable price at 15/2 for the Grade 1 Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle at Sandown.
He’s not come off the bridle in three starts this term and could be anything at this stage, so he’s worth chancing given the opposition isn’t exactly top-notch.
The favourite Rathhill was the pick of four possible runners from the Henderson yard, while owner JP McManus had others that could’ve taken their chance, so he’s got to be respected despite only two runs over hurdles, while Elixir Du Nutz probably has the race’s best form with a few horses he’s beaten this season finishing first next time out.
The handicapper disagrees as Southfield Stone and Elixir Du Nutz have been given identical marks of 140, and seeing as though we clearly haven’t seen what Southfield Stone can do when asked for a full effort, he is the bet at the significantly longer price.
1pt win Southfield Stone @15/2, 14:25 Sandown, Saturday
