1pt win The Folkes Tiara @7/1, 15:40 Fairyhouse, Saturday

2m1f EasyFix Equine Handicap Chase (Listed Race) (4yo+)

There is a risk racing won’t go ahead in most places tomorrow, but at the time of writing, Fairyhouse may have a higher chance of racing taking place than at Newbury. Some interesting novices are being unearthed on the card, but it’s hard to get stuck into those contests.

Instead, the prices offered in the 14:00 2m 1f handicap make far greater appeal as a betting prospect although admittedly there are plenty that have chances.

Grey Diamond could be an interesting recruit from Sam Thomas for Gordon Elliott and the nine-year-old newcomer often goes well fresh. Fighting Fit has shown huge improvement for Liam Dempsey, but his latest 10lbs rise off the same rival he beat on his penultimate start may be a tad harsh.

Dancing On My Own is clearly a classy individual judging by his latest win at Cheltenham, but he isn’t the most reliable to follow that up again and carrying top-weight on soft ground when he generally likes faster conditions may not be in his favour.

My attention is drawn to the bottom-weight here in THE FOLKES TIARA for Rachel Blackmore and Henry De Bromhead. The Folkes Tiara has just had the fours chase starts to date and is yet to win over fences. But his form figures over fences aren’t bad reading 2423.

The Folkes Tiara picked up his first win under rules on his last start over timber rather than a fence and comes into this off a break of 142 days. There is encouragement there though as he tends to run well fresh and at just the age of 7, there could be plenty of improvement to come from him considering his last chase start saw him finish not that far behind Dinoblue. The pace of this race is expected to stretch these two mile chasers and he tends to finish off his races well so I am prepared to take a chance on The Folkes Tiara getting in off the minimum 10 stone weight.
