I suspect we can get the odds-on favourite beaten here, for all he’s looked classy in his two visits to the track. He is priced on potential rather than form, and that’s always a signal the market has it wrong. A case can be made for all the opposition being overpriced, but the one I like is THUNDEROUS who was a winning tip for us before injury brought his juvenile career to an early halt. He returned this season over 10f behind Volkan Star, a mega-money Godolphin purchase who had found subsequent French Derby winner Mishriff too good on his reappearance. Thunderous and Volkan Star pulled miles clear of the 3rd last time out and I’d rate that very good form – equal to anything the favourite has achieved anyway. As a 15/2 shot I think you’re getting a good price for a horse that could take a big jump forward from his reappearance. Very similar comments apply to Aidan O’Brien’s Cormorant but I’d rather not back two.
