1m4f Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (Grade 1) (3yo+) (Turf) (3yo+)
I’m not sure a low draw is as important over this trip as there’s a long run to the first bend, but but the fact remains stall one did win one of only two runnings of this race at Del Mar. However, the pace was notably slower in Talismanic’s year compared to when Yibir came from the back and wide to win in 2021. Pace is crucial to this race and I suspect there will be plenty of it this time courtesy of Cabo Spirit and the two Aidan O’Brien horses, with Rebel’s Romance and Jayarebe also likely to want to be up there. This sharper test should really suit Luxembourg as he’s not the strongest stayer at 12f, but he’s thoroughly exposed and the form of his best run this season hasn’t really worked out. I much prefer WINGSPAN of the O’Brien duo as she’s firmly on the up and ran a huge race from the front to finish second on Champions Day, proving she stays this trip very well indeed. Her sire Dubawi is prolific at this meeting and there’s no doubt she will go forward from a wide draw.
1pt win Wingspan @11/1, 21:01 Del Mar, Saturday
