The well-bred Wolf Of Windlesham left his poor flat form behind when bolting up on his hurdles debut on good ground at Ludlow. If the rain arrives as forecast, it could be plenty soft tomorrow and, together with Cheltenham’s hill, conditions are altogether different. By Mastercraftsman, who was a classic winner on heavy ground on the flat, he should handle the ground and might be overpriced at 12/1 in a race where they’re all entitled to improve.
Oceane, another flat convert, was a good winner for Alan King at Kempton and could be anything at this stage. He’s been well backed at 7/4 and, considering he’s American bred and didn’t really act on soft on the flat, he doesn’t represent any real value and I suspect he’ll drift.
Romain de Senam, the mount of Sam Twiston-Davies, is similarly priced and will handle cut in the ground. He won by fifteen lengths on British hurdling debut and looks potentially very good – if not a little short in the betting. He’s still easy to back and certainly one for multiples.
I know little about the other runners, but Coo Star Sivola is very weak in the market and Fingertips, despite being on better terms for this, has something to find with Romain de Sanim from their French encounter, so we’ll pass both.
The selection was visually very impressive on debut and seems likely to handle the ground, so we’re keen to be on-side at 12/1.
1pt win Wolf Of Windlesham @12/1, Cheltenham 12:40 (StanJames)
