We’ve already advised DODGING BULLETS in the 14:05 at Ascot and CUE CARD in the 15:00 at Haydock, but there’s high-class racing across several cards today and I fancy Nicky Henderson’s VANITEUX to make a winning reappearance in the 15:15 Handicap Chase at Ascot.
A high-class novice chaser last season, he narrowly lost to the exciting Ar Mad at Kempton between impressive victories a Doncaster and another visit to Kempton.
In the Donny race he had several classy foes beaten like RSA Chase second Shaneshill, recent runaway Cheltenham winner Fox Norton, and subsequent Grade 1 winner Arzal, so it looks solid form.
He also looked like the horse to finally get the mighty Douvan off the bridle in the Arkle, before unseating his jockey two from home.
I’m most encouraged by how well he ran on reappearance last season, and reckon his current handicap mark of 154 is generous.
At 5/2, he combines with Cue Card and Dodging Bullets to form a 41/1 treble with RaceBets (39/1 generally).
Worth a few quid.
