Diamond Jubilee Stakes (Group One) 6f
Blue Point won the King’s Stand on Tuesday and is back again to complete a famous sprint double at Royal Ascot. He’s excellent over this 6f trip and is clearly the best horse in the race, but he simply has to be taken on after that prep and at the prices. BOUND FOR NOWHERE is a confident selection for Wesley Ward and America. My immediate reaction after his excellent third last year was that he would have won if he hadn’t had to race alone for much of the race, and Ward has been waxing lyrical about his chances all month. He doesn’t need to find much improvement from last year, and Ward – who owns the horse – claims to have taken his time with him to allow him to develop and peak as a five-year-old. Stall one isn’t great, but most of the speed is drawn in the middle so hopefully they won’t split, and I think 14/1 is an outstanding each-way bet.
