6f Albany Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) (Class 1) (2yo)
Flotus couldn’t have been more eye catching on debut and looks a worthy favourite for this 6f sprint, but the race is so competitive she’s worth taking on at the prices with EVE LODGE, who was down to run earlier in the week but scratched, presumably in the hope Ascot gets wetter. She’s a strong traveler and we haven’t seen anything like the best of her yet.
1pt win Eve Lodge @9/1, 14:30 Royal Ascot, Friday
6f Commonwealth Cup (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Colts & Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
This is a huge field for a Group One. I’ve got a lot of time for the unbeaten Suesa, but the value in the race looks to be the Irish raider A CASE OF YOU at 14/1. He’s very consistent, but for one blip when last to Poetic Flare over 7f, and his Irish form is stacking up well. He’s proven on soft going and looks like a stiff 6f will suit him as he’s not lacking for stamina at this trip.
1pt win A Case Of You @14/1, 15:40 Royal Ascot, Friday
1m (7f213y) (Rnd) Coronation Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
Another ridiculously competitive Group One full of live chances. Primo Bacio was hugely eye catching at York but the speed she showed on good ground might be blunted by the rain, and a wide draw is really tough as this could get messy. I’m not sure the English or Irish Guineas form is all that strong and this division is open to a big improver laying down a marker. That might just be POTAPOVA at 16/1 for Sir Michael Stoute. She’s been drawn fairly well in stall seven and has looked like a Group horse in her two visits to the track so far, sauntering home with a minimum of fuss. She’s out of a Pivotal mare and by Invincible Spirit, so soft ground shouldn’t be a concern, and she should run well.
1pt win Potapova @16/1, 16:20 Royal Ascot, Friday
