1pt win Chateau @9/1, 17:35 Royal Ascot, Wednesday

5f Windsor Castle Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (2yo)

Little Big Bear has looked like a very smart prospect on his first two starts for Aidan O’Brien, winning cosily in a maiden on his previous start against some good sorts having failed to reel in a rival over 6f. He is rated 12lbs higher on an RPR basis than anything else in this, but at 2/1 in a 24 runner juvenile sprint, there is absolutely no value there and being drawn in stall 2 may not be the best spot either.

Little Big Bear has an entry in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes, but so does CHATEAU, who comes into this also unlucky not to be 2-2 from his first two starts. Both of his runs have seen Chateau be incredibly strong at the finish suggesting a stiff 5f will be very much to his liking.

In both starts thus far he has had to come through traffic and be switched to get a run at the finish. Hold-up tactics at Ascot can often work well and he will have a prime route into the race from the Wesley Ward trained Seismic Spirit from a middle draw.

Chateau also already has a win on fast ground in the form-book and he looks like one that is overpriced against the short fav.
