It must have been a brutal weekend for bookmakers with so many well-backed favourites winning. Arc potentials Golden Horn, Postponed, New Bay and the superstar mare Treve all won well, while at Doncaster favourites Limato and Emotionless landed the odds and some bookmakers paid out on Bondi Beach despite Simple Verse being first past the post. Over in Ireland Legatissimo, Order Of St George, Air Force Blue, Custom Cut and everyone’s favourite Sole Power duly obliged, whilst at Longchamp Ervedya continued the carnage.
Some weekend for accumulators, then, but sadly we didn’t play that game. Sole Power, Simple Verse and Golden Horn all paid out for 2Pts Win backers, though, to cap off a strong week.
As Autumn approaches, quality flat racing becomes less frequent but we still have Future Champions Festival at Newmarket, Arc day at Longchamp and Champions Day at Ascot to come before the jumps season gets into full swing.
