2m (Winter) Ladbrokes ‘Gaffer Of All Accas’ Handicap Hurdle (Class 3) (3yo+ 0-140)
Top of market is dodgy here. Willmount hasn’t completed in two of his three hurdle starts, Valgrand was shocking on handicap debut, Jet Powered hasn’t been seen since pulling up over a year ago, and Aucunrisque is back in the grip of the handicapper after his return to form at Ascot. As such it might be worth a play on a rank outsider and GLORY AND FORTUNE is running off a mark 13lb lower than his 2022 Betfair Hurdle success with a further 7lb claimed off by his conditional jockey. He’s old now but that’s a feather weight for a once graded horse. He missed last season but ran pretty well on his reappearance at Kempton, traveling well into the race but missing the last and tiring. Next up he might just have bounced after the layoff when disappointing at Wetherby, and the handicapper had dropped him 6lb. Anything close to his form of yesteryear would see him win this comfortably so I’m happy to chance him at big odds.
