I’m taking on the favourite, Mori, in the Ribbesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot on Thursday.
Favourites are having a pretty good week and the bookies are feeling it, but I can’t quite see why the horse that easily beat Mori in a maiden earlier in the season, GRACIOUS DIANA, is several times the price at 18/1.
She did bomb on her last start at Newbury on soft ground, but her maiden was won on good-to-firm and she really bolted up, so conditions at Ascot are likely to see her resume her progress.
If the soft ground was the excuse at Newbury then she’s massively overpriced on this and well worth an each-way bet given there are no negatives with her draw.
It doesn’t look a deep race with the form horse the distant 1000 Guineas-third Alluringly; ripe for an upset.
