There has to be a bet in this race because the favourite is a crazy price off the back of winning a crap Group Three and a handicap. Maybe connections know something I don’t, but I much prefer the form of Andre Fabre’s BOTANIK at a very generous 12/1. He’s won his last three on the bounce, claiming the notable scalp of Japanese Arc challenger Stay Foolish who won big races in the middle east this spring. His beating of Irisene prior to that was franked when he won an Arc trial and I can’t understand why he’s not shorter in the betting despite carrying a 2lb penalty. He’s only finished outside the top two once in his last ten starts and rates a rock solid each-way bet with four places offered. Fabre has been quoted saying he’s a Breeders’ Cup Turf horse so he’s clearly well regarded.
