1m (New) Alan Smurfit Memorial Beresford Stakes (Group 2) (2yo)
This race often produces an antepost Derby favourite but I doubt that will happen this year. Adelaide River hasn’t given me the impression of a Group One horse in two starts so far and I was far more impressed by his stablemate CONTINUOUS, a son of Japanese sire Heart’s Cry, when making all on debut where he showed plenty of staying power and will to win. O’Brien targets this race with very good horses and I suspect he’s a bit overpriced at 7/2 in a six runner race.
