With 11 runners and bookies paying four places, this looks like an each-way betting race. Iberico Lord is going to improve when he steps up in trip but his stamina might not come into play here over what’s undoubtedly an easier 2m than Cheltenham. Greatwood 5th NEMEAN LION is the bet at 10/1 with an 8lb swing in the weights with the fav. Cheltenham on soft ground won’t have suited this flat bred, and the greater emphasis on speed at Ascot will favour him. He ran great in the Greatwood but made some jumping errors throughout and would have finished a lot closer with a clear round. He’s up 5lb from his Welsh Champion Hurdle win to a mark of 140 and I still fancy him to rate higher when afforded decent ground and a sharper track.
