The bet in this race is obvious. VALIA is a horse I’ve had a few quid on for the Arc at fancy prices after she bolted up in a Listed race back in July, and she got beat last time out on heavy ground at Deauville – she came a decent second – which has seemingly ruled her out as a realistic Arc prospect for many punters. That seems like a massive over-reaction as she looks really good to me. Decent ground is the key to this horse and she’ll get that at Longchamp, so 20/1 is an enormous each-way price for a horse that definitely has scope to be a Group One winner. She’s up against the very well thought of Raabihah, who’s odds-on and will be very difficult to beat, but this is wide open.
