A good renewal with plenty of chances and no stand-out performer. Miss Amulet was good at York where she beat Sacred well. That could very well be the best form line on offer but both are on the short side, given Sacred didn’t seem to fully stay last time and won’t be a fan of the cut in the ground. Umm Kulthum was my selection in that race and ran quite green. She won next time out but I want a prominent racer at Newmarket over this trip and she’ll probably have too much to do. Happy Romance just keeps on winning and cannot be ruled out so 5/1, but I fancy ALCOHOL FREE to reverse the form at a bigger price. Oisin Murphy wrote in his blog that he doesn’t see much pace in this race and implied he will make the running, and the combination of price, potential and the likely run of the race makes her a good bet. The other one I like at the prices is the unbeaten DANDALLA, who has a strong claim to having the best form in the race and shouldn’t have any concerns over the ground. If she’s near her Royal Ascot form she’s got to go very close.
