6f William Hill Prospect Stakes (Registered As The Doncaster Stakes) (Listed Race) (Class 1) (2yo)
This is a hot Listed contest with several chances. But I like the look of DIEGO VENTURA for Wathnan Racing. The son of Mehmas won a decent maiden for Gavin Cromwell in Ireland before moving yard.
His first start in a Novice race at Ascot couldn’t have anything else go wrong with it, but Diego Ventura managed to still get his head in front. Last time out he stepped up to 7f. In a well run race Diego Ventura had to make his challenge on the outside and got bumped a few times by a Coolmore fav, doing well to finish in the runners up position to a potentially smart individual.
Diego Ventura has a slight experience edge over his main market rivals and should have no problem with this ground. I think he’s the best horse in the race based on what he has shown but clearly Bounty is open to any amount of improvement for Ryan Moore and Aidan O’Brien.
1pt win Diego Ventura 3/1, 13:30 Doncaster, Saturday
