1m (Str) William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes (Group 1) (No Geldings) (Class 1) (2yo)
A Group One race lacking any Group One form to go by but HOTAZHELL did finish ahead of a subsequent Group One winner two starts ago and has gone on to win at Group Two level since, which marks him down as having the best form in the race to my eye. The prices don’t reflect that and any ease in the ground won’t bother him as he’s twice a winner on yielding ground and has a high knee action. Well worth a bet. I’m taking two in the race and for smaller stakes but at big odds I can’t ignore the claims of NEBRAS for the Gosdens. This Dubawi half-brother to the high-class Nashwa did something very difficult at Newmarket, which is come from last to first late in the race. That’s unusual and the winning distances mean very little in that scenario as he only did what he needed to do to win. The Gosdens wouldn’t run such an inexperienced horse in a Group One unless they thought plenty of him and at 16/1 I’m keen to be on side.
1pt win Hotazhell @17/2, 0.5pts win Nebras @16/1, 14:40 Doncaster, Saturday
