2m5f (Winter) Coral Lanzarote Handicap Hurdle (Listed Race) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)
The London area is in for a dry few days and it’s likely Kempton will be good to soft for its big Lanzarote Hurdle card, where the feature’s boosted prize money has been rewarded with a maximum field of 20. I don’t think the favourite Marie’s Rock is well handicapped after going up 9lb for her facile win last time out as that looked like a weak race to me and this is tougher. GELINO BELLO is a much more attractive bet, having chased home Albert Bartlett favourite Blazing Khal the last twice at Cheltenham. He’s got a touch of class, jumps well and makes his handicap debut off a mark of 138, which I suspect underestimates him. I fancy the mare ON MY COMMAND, the bottom weight, to run a big race too. She’s won her last two starts after a change in yard and a wind op, and looks to be a very sound jumper, which is essential in this type of race. She’s flat bred so Kempton will suit and any double digit price feels good to me.
1pt win Gelino Bello @15/2, 1pt win On My Command @14/1, 14:40 Kempton, SaturdayLeave a comment
