1m4f  (1m3f211y) Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series)  (Class 1) (3yo+)

A fabulous betting heat with 14 runners and a favourite who came last on her previous course and distance start. Emily Upjohn has every chance on her form in the spring – particularly her collateral form with an in-form Tuesday and the Arc winner Alpinista – but she has questions to answer now and I’m not sure this was plan B, let alone A. I really like her stablemate MIMIKYU and the only negative I can come up with is Frankie giving her a swerve. She’s 4lb worse off at the weights with Eshaada than at Doncaster, and drops 2f, but she sparkled that day in a first time hood and looked a Group One filly. Her striding matches that of a 12f horse, she’s on an upward trajectory and won’t be found wanting for stamina. Seven of the last ten winners have been three-year-olds, which bodes well. Fellow 3yo Eternal Pearl is of serious interest but it’s hard to justify 4/1 quotes in such a competitive race.
