He’s not shown much in two starts on soft ground this season but David O’Meara’s MONDIALISTE looks overpriced at 12/1 for this York Group Two.
A Grade 1 winner across the pond last season and an excellent second to superstar mare Tepin in a white-hot renewal of the Breeders’ Cup Turf last October – form that now looks rock solid – he certainly has the class.
It’s good-to-firm at York and he’s won at the track in similar conditions in the past, so perhaps flat tracks like this, Keeneland and Woodbine are the key to his best form.
Time Test, the 2/5 favourite, is something of a constant disappointment to punters having failed several times when well fancied at Group One level in the past.
He’s a classy horse and gets his ideal conditions, but despite those obvious claims really isn’t hard to take on at the prices.
The three other runners are made up of his pacemaker Countermeasure, the exposed Air Pilot and John Gosden’s Mahsoob, who has five lengths to make up on Mondialiste after they met at York last season.
1pt win Mondialiste @12/1, 15:35 York, Saturday
