1pt win Muthmir @5/1, 1pt win Easton Angel @7/1, 16:50 York, Saturday

At the prices EASTON ANGEL looks worth a bet in this five-furlong York Listed sprint.

She’s been very impressive in two winning starts this season and gets her favourite quick ground over a course and distance she’s won at before.

On the whole her five-furlong form is excellent, with her standout defeat by Acapulco at Royal Ascot no blemish and finishing fifth, well beaten by future Commonwealth Cup winner Quiet Reflection on ground that might have been too soft.

She gets a big three-year-old fillies’ weight allowance and comes into the race very unexposed against her elders.

Chief rival is quick-ground loving MUTHMIR, who was good enough to place second in the Group One King’s Stand last season as well as notching a couple of Group Twos.

He gets into this race without a penalty and ranks the class horse, so there’s plenty to like about his 5/1 quote.

So much so that I think they’re both worth chancing.

Most of the opposition are fully exposed and can’t match Muthmir’s best form, so it’s likely to be the three-year-olds who pose the greatest threat.

Steady Pace has some good form behind star two-year-old from 2015 Shalaa, and Kachy behind Quiet Reflection this season, but the two selections seem far more likely candidates.
