It’s probably fair that Romanised heads the market for this competitive Group One on account of his good win at Deauville and previous solid efforts at this grade. However, he nor second-fav, Royal Ascot winner Circus Maximus, are difficult to take on in a mile division that clearly lacks a superstar. I’ve followed Shaman off a cliff this season and have given up despite some good second placed efforts in Group Ones, while the impression Line Of Duty left last time out behind Shaman and Romanised was he wanted a step up in trip. I fancy 2018 French Guineas winner OLMEDO, who finally got back to winning ways last time out after injury had threatened his career. Whether he maintains his ability is questionable, but 16/1 is a big price for a horse in form that’s got Group One form over course and distance, and gets his ground. The other one I like is Delaware, who has shown significantly improved form in his last two starts and looks a three-year-old on the up. He’s very difficult to quantify as an 8/1 shot in such a competitive race, though.
