1m4f (1m3f211y) King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (3yo)
Zahraan was brilliant on the eye at Leopardstown and takes a big chunk out the market here, but it was a slowly run race that turned into a sprint and I don’t think he proved he stays 12f. If the pace is hot, which it will be, his hold up tactics won’t work unless he stays really well. Amiloc looks the class angle into the race but he’s been gelded for being lazy and awkward – when he hits top gear he’s like a train – but that might catch him out in the middle of the race. At a bigger price I like the son of Ulysses REGAL ULIXES who is also a certain stayer and is completely unexposed. He only won narrowly last time out but that was a sprint finish where he clocked fast closing splits and lengthened to a 7.98m stride.
1pt win Regal Ulixes @14/1, 15:35 Royal Ascot, Friday
