1pt win September @15/2, 15:35 Newmarket, Friday

I rate Aidan O’Brien’s Royal Ascot-winning filly SEPTEMBER very highly, and at 15/2 she looks overpriced for Group One glory in today’s Fillies’ Mile at Newmarket.

Her stablemates Magical and Happily, the latter now a dual-Group One winner, have finished in front of her in her previous two starts on soft ground so they’re understandably sat first and second in the market, but the return to a sound surface could be enough to reverse the form.

It was rattling fast ground at Ascot where September looked top-class, and the form has worked out well since with Nyaleti and Masar giving it plenty of substance.

Another crucial factor in her chances of reversing the form is the fact she arrives fresher than the two at the top of the market, who both contested Arc day in Paris a few weeks back and won’t have had easy races – Happily won but Magical was soundly beaten.

With so much in September’s favour, now seems a good time for her to strike.
