There’s Group One flat action over in Hong Kong early tomorrow morning, and Royal Ascot flop A SHIN HIKARI looks a big price to bounce back to his brilliant best.
He won the Longines Hong Kong Cup last year in brilliant style, defying a wide draw by running away with it from the front, and drawn in stall one this year he has an excellent chance of repeating the feat.
Sha Tin’s tight, fast turning track places a big emphasis on track position and, if he can bounce back after a couple of disappointing runs, he must have a better chance than the 6/1 about suggests.
The field is deep with Japanese superstar Maurice trading favourite, who beat him last time out in the Tenno Sho in Japan.
That was an authoritative performance and it’ll take a lot to reverse the form, but A Shin Hikari is absolutely good enough on his best form and won this race last year after losing in the same previous assignment.
With the track, draw and ground all perfectly complimenting his way of racing, he can definitely go very close.
