With the rain falling, my old favourite SIR DRAGONET is looking more and more like a banker each time I look at the market for the Listed Wolferton Stakes. Sent off favourite for the Derby last year after bolting up at Chester and in his maiden, his form tailed off last season as he clearly didn’t stay in the St Leger – he arguably didn’t stay in the Derby either. 10f on rain softened ground is looking like his optimal conditions and this looks a pretty soft renewal with only Regal Reality in opposition with Group One form. He’s currently the same price he was when favourite for the Derby but with more favourable race conditions and a big drop in class, so if the same horse turns up that we saw in the first half of last season, he wins.
