Meydan tips: Cowan (14/1 ew), Al Suhail (5/2), Loves Only You (16/1 ew)

One day the Americans will win this race and they’re almost always value to hit the frame. This year I like the consistent three-year-old COWAN for Steve Asmussen with form figures 22222 in his last five starts, including a never nearer second to Golden Pal at the Breeders’ Cup. It’s a tall order to beat the likeable favourite Space Blues, but this doesn’t look like a deep race.

I think AL SUHAIL is the bet here. He always improves for his first run and was only just touched off by Lord Glitters and Eqtiraan on Super Saturday after traveling like the best horse. He was keen throughout and if he can settle he should keep enough in reserve to hold these off. I don’t fancy Lord North at all returning from a break and drawn widest of all in 10, but he does have the best form overall.

1m4f  (1m4f11y) Longines Dubai Sheema Classic Presented By Longines (Group 1) (Turf)  (3yo+)

Aidan O’Brien never has his runners tuned up for this meeting so Mogul is pretty easy to pass, whilst Mishriff has to prove his stamina for this trip. I think this can go to Japan again and Chrono Genesis looks a worthy favourite, but I can’t help but play LOVES ONLY YOU at 16/1, who was the better horse as a three-year-old, beating her numerous times. This year the form has been reversed but anything can happen at Meydan and she looks a big each-way price in a racing lacking in depth.
