Newmarket hosts its Cambridgeshire meeting and Friday’s card contains two Group Twos – the first of which, the Rockfel Stakes, looks worth a play.
Fair Eva, sired by the mighty Frankel, lost her unbeaten record to another Frankel filly, Queen Kindly, last time out in the Lowther Stakes at York – but she remains a threat and is probably a worthy favourite.
Odds-on and beatable, though, I’m keen to take her on with ARGENTERIE at a big price of 11/1.
Her trainer had this to say about her chances:
“She’s in extremely good form and we’re quite excited about her, actually. I think she’s potentially a very nice filly,”
“There are several you could say might win it, but our filly is in good shape and I was particularly pleased with her very easy Salisbury win.
“She’s gleaming and looks really well, so I hope she can scale the heights.”
Those are markedly positive words, and if she is as good as they believe she is she could be massively overpriced.
Unexposed and carrying stable confidence, she looks a good each-way bet with the ideal number of runners, eight, meaning we get three places.
