1pt win Good Land w/o Impaire Et Passe @3/1, 13:30 Cheltenham, Wednesday

I’ve been all over Impaire Et Passe for the Ballymore since he made his hurdles debut and have backed him accordingly, but the revised prices don’t have a lot of juice and I’d fall short of recommending him as a lump bet at 2/1 because he does face stiff opposition. Antepost stakes can warp our views of race day markets and there’s no doubt GOOD LAND would be the bet in this race if I looked at it today for the first time. His stablemate Marine Nationale won impressively yesterday and Barry Connell has told the world he thinks these two horses will win this week, so perhaps punters should listen to him. Good Land looked really good around Leopardstown, landing Grade 1 honours at the Dublin Racing Festival and I can’t knock him. To be honest, I prefer to take Impaire Et Passe out of the equation and bet without the favourite because I don’t think the 3/1 available in that market is bad value at all, and two winners sounds better than one! In fact, I’d make Good Land somewhere around a 3/1 play in the outright win market so it has to be a good price.
