Chaldean will obviously be very tough to beat here if running to form, and soft ground is of little concern either, but I backed KNIGHT when he won over this course and distance on soft going at the end of last season and I’m not abandoning him here under similar conditions. Mehmas colts don’t always train on as three-year-olds but it’s only April and this is the right end of the season to catch them. Knight hasn’t looked like getting beaten in two starts yet, while he’s got a tremendous attitude that you can rely on. I’m happy to chance 11/2 as I’m not sure the favourite’s Dewhurst form is above average.
