Savethelastdance looks likely to go off a very short price and a 22l trial win is compelling, but she’s come from nowhere and has clearly surprised connections as she went off 20/1 and unfancied on her first start this year. I’d want to see her do it again before backing her at evens or shorter. With the Epsom ground unrecognisable from Chester I’m not afraid to take her on with SOUL SISTER who is proven on quicker going and is 3x the price. She also went off a big price at York but with good reason – she got stuck in the mud on reappearance over 7f. She sprinted past accelerating horses at York, impressing on the clock, and there’s no point comparing winning margins to decide the favourite is better – that would be dumb. The selection strides like a 12f horse and I rate her an equal chance in these conditions so she must be the bet. Nothing else appeals.
